NETGEAR Unveils Fast Cable Gateway

4/23/2014

There’s no doubt consumers are consuming more media than ever before thanks to Internet-connected devices such as smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs. This increase in demand coincides with consumers’ appetite for fast, reliable connection speeds. In fact, industry experts believe Wi-Fi in particular has become so mainstream that it’s no longer considered a luxury; it’s considered a necessity.

NETGEAR, www.netgear.com, a global networking company that delivers innovative products to consumers, businesses, and service providers, hopes to continue to meet the demands of service providers and, ultimately, today’s connected consumers, by launching its latest cable gateway. The company recently introduced C7000B—the NETGEAR DOCSIS 3.0 AC1900 Voice and Data Cable Gateway for cable broadband service providers. The device offers Wi-Fi speeds up to 1900 Mbps and DOCSIS (data over cable service interface specification) speeds of up to 1 Gigabit per second.

NETGEAR says its C7000B “raises the bar” in the space, giving its service provider customers the ability to wirelessly connect to devices such as smartphones, tablets, and smart TVs faster. The company uses its unique Beamforming+ technology, which directs a Wi-Fi ‘beam’ to each device, “creating a better, more consistent connection.”

For service providers, the gateway will offer support tools that will ease processes such as customer support, remote device management, and field upgrades. For end users, C7000B offers simple installation, parental controls, and guest network access, among other features. Thanks to its high-speed capacity, the device will offer the quality of service today’s end users expect while gaming, watching videos, and surfing the Web. NETGEAR says C7000B is now available for service provider trials.
