Router Pursues Trustworthy Data Delivery
The needs of today’s mobile workforce are of great concern to businesses that rely on workers’ ability to access data securely and reliably. Similarly, as businesses leverage M2M deployments to gather mission-critical data, the ability to manage this information—and turn it into value—becomes crucial.
Two companies, Telit Wireless Solutions, www.telit.com, and DCS Solutions, www.dcsbusiness.com, hope their collaboration will enable trustworthy data delivery for mobile enterprise applications, as well as Big Data management. To do this, DCS Solutions, a provider of wireless data products, solutions, and services, says its DCS-559 Wireless N-Router will employ 3G cellular technology from Telit over a Sprint network.
Specifically, the router will incorporate Telit’s DE910-DUAL PCIe CDMA|EV-DO cellular data card for mobile data communications, which will carry Wi-Fi Internet traffic over EVDO mobile broadband network in the DCS-559 mobile router. The data card is capable of 3.1 Mbps downlink and 1.8 Mbps uplink data speeds.
According to DCS, DCS-559 provides secure wireless network access to mobile workforces that need to be able to work anytime and from anywhere. It also provides an ideal solution for remote surveillance systems. Other potential applications include the ability to provide fail-over network connectivity, the option to access surveillance equipment in the event of an ISP failure, and to deploy a redundant wireless network via the cellular network.
DCS says the goal is to deliver wireless broadband access to its customers with minimal setup effort required. Ultimately, Telit and DCS Solutions hope the new mobile router will provide a simple, secure option that addresses the needs of today’s enterprises looking to leverage mobile technologies and harness Big Data.
