    It’s a Connected Life
It all starts with a single piece of data. Follow along as we track its progression, from a tagged asset out in the field all the way back to the inner circles of our personal life, showing the broad and wide-sweeping scope of how data can be informative, entertaining, and perhaps even life saving. Design and Cognitive Psychology Research on Distractive Driving at the Univ. of Kansas
The KU Center for Design Research is engaged in designing a “smarter” automotive dashboard console. The collaboration is between experts in engineering, design, and cognitive science to develop a new class of “AID (Adaptive Information Displays)” that can intelligently assess road and driver conditions and adjust the driver’s in-car experience to anticipate their needs and demands for safety while recognizing that driver attention is at a premium.

The emphasis is directed to maximizing the amount of “eye-to-road” contact by the heuristic (and tailored) design of instrument clusters/ancillary devices and their usage. The CDR is working to develop health and wellness in-car connectivity solutions that empower people with self-help information and resources while they drive.
