CW 100 Frequently Asked Questions

What is the CW 100 and its rankings?
The CW 100 is the premier ranking of the leading companies that provide the most innovative solutions as it relates to connected devices for the M2M/IoT (Internet of Things) community.

Who is included in the CW 100 list?
The CW 100 includes companies that share a vision for promoting the connected world. This is more than simply selling a product used in connected solutions; the company needs to show it is committed to the idea of the connected world and is helping to make connecting devices a simpler process. Companies should be dedicated to providing solutions, products, and services that make connectivity and M2M/IoT easier to implement. Overall, the companies on this list are doing their part to enable a connected world, whether that is through a stated vision, the solutions they provide, or the impact they are currently having in the world of connected devices.

The editors use a list of criteria to consider companies for inclusion in the CW 100. If a company wishes to be considered and nominates themselves Connected World will always consider them, but keep in mind only 100 firms can be included.

What is the CW 100 criteria?
Some, not necessarily all of the criteria, used to consider companies for inclusion in the CW 100 include (some of the information will also be used to rank companies from one to 100):

What makes the CW 100 rankings unique?
The CW 100 is perhaps one of the only sources that independently ranks the vendor community based on a representative sampling of verified customers and partners that actually work and use the products. These ratings and feedback are not based on what is shared on Websites, but actual interviews and facts gleaned from true journalistic training.

Is there a questionnaire?
Yes. The questionnaire can be found online. Completing the questionnaire is not a requirement to be included on the list, but it does help the editors in their evaluation of your company.  To be ranked member all questionnaires must be completed.

What if I already submitted my questionnaire?

How are CW 100 companies determined?
The selection process for the CW 100 begins with compiling a master list of every known provider of connected devices utilizing M2M/IoT technology and culled from responses to an email invitation to Connected World’s readers, company databases, input from advisors to the magazine, and various other sources. The total number of companies considered varies from year to year, but typically ranges each year from 300 to more than 400.

Each company is invited to provide an update of its business model and a synopsis of its recent progress in the connected devices and M2M marketplace. This material is used to develop a first draft of the directory, which is analyzed and adjusted over a period of several weeks based on additional research and feedback. Each individual score is recorded, calculated, and averaged. All scores and written comments by customers and partners are tallied to make a final determination for the list and then evaluated for possible rankings if appropriate based on what has been stated earlier.

What is the difference between inclusion on the CW 100 and being ranked on the CW 100?
